Readers Beware:  This post has political observations that may offend some people.

Chills, chills, chills.  I just finished watching VP Kamala Harris address the American Federation of Teachers in Houston.  The AFT was the very first union to endorse her campaign for President.  They are also the same people that hold power that we tend to overlook; the shaping and molding of our future citizens.  A progressive future is now thankfully within sight.  The past few months have been filled with desperation and finally most of us just turned lethargic about the future of our country.  And that includes people aligned to both parties.

One side really believes the other side wants to ban guns.  You’re wrong about that.  The other side is more concerned about the banning of books.  And worse, some wish to go backwards in time to alter our country’s story and toss out the not so attractive stuff, I guess.  Not sure what their editor is planning to delete.  I don’t like guns.  I don’t own a gun, but the Constitution validates a person’s right to own them.  I support the Constitution.  All of it, regardless of my personal beliefs.  Isn’t that what freedom implies?  If you want to carry a gun, great.  If I want to reread Portnoy’s Complaint, let me.  (If you’re too young to recognize this book, google it.)

They even choose to delete me!  That is infuriating beyond words.

That I have been partnered for thirty five years and am now legally married in the United States and now that legal agreement is at risk?  I even travelled to Scotland for extra insurance that our commitment would not be jeopardized by the out of touch preferences of the current Supreme Court.  Why would you want to eliminate me?  Why wouldn’t you try to entice me to understand and respect your core beliefs?  Believe me, if they were presented to me in a logical delivery instead of a threat, I promise I’d listen to you.  You mandate that the Ten Commandments be posted in schools, yet you wouldn’t think twice about discarding me and limiting my rights as much as you have limited a woman’s right to be in charge of her own body.  That’s not called governing.  That’s called fascism.  Come on.  It’s 2024.

FORWARD MARCH!
