Why can’t grocery stores adopt a common guide to their aisles and what they present?

Now some stuff is pretty standard.  You walk in and to the right is an avalanche of fruits, vegetables and all the healthy stuff you should be filling your cart with.  But then you remember that we’re out of lemon juice.  Now technically it’s a juice, but the juice aisle is primarily for your top juices:  orange, cranberry and the like.  Now I know most people don’t pour themselves a nice glass of lemon juice, but let’s give the lemon some respect.  It has the power to make the dullest of dinners just a bit more festive.  Try having a nice martini without lemon juice and/or the lemon rind.

So please grocery store conglomerates, stop bogarting the lemon juice.  We want standardization for lemon juice presentation.  That’s all we ask. Pass some legislation that standardizes all products. And asking someone who works at the store where the lemon juice?  Try it.  They always preface their response with ” … I think it might … ”  and then they’ll throw out some bogus guess like aisle three.

We know where to find the fruit in its natural format.  Hell, you can even spot a lemon meringue pie in the bakery a mile away.  Lemon yogurt?  It practically screams at you.  But the bottle? You’ll find your car in the parking lot quicker than this underrated product.  Step it up grocers and show some respect.

Footnote from Wikipedia:  Lemons are supposed to have entered Europe near southern Italy no later than the second century AD, during the time of Ancient Rome.[2] They were later introduced to Persia and then to Iraq and Egypt around 700 AD.[2]

Do we really need to risk even more tension between us and the Middle East? Lemons for peace and harmony.  Amen.
