This past week was a challenge. My partner in life of thirty five years and my sweetheart dog Zoey drove all the way from Houston to Philadelphia. Why didn’t they fly an hour and a half you ask? Well little Zoey is having a pretty steady stream of seizures and flying is not in her game plan until we figure out what’s going on. She’s been on so many medications, she’s really disoriented. This trip probably didn’t help. It was surprising that she loved the city frenzy though. Couldn’t get enough of it.
Sometimes ya gotta find the funny in a challenge, and this separation is the most challenging thing I’ve ever had to endure. So today I walked my boy and my girl to the parking garage and helped load the car. I was getting teary eyed until two things cracked me up. One was my partner reaching out to shake my hand and say it was great seeing you which was quickly followed by oh shit I left my teeth upstairs.
Now he does have his real teeth but he’s been doing that clear disposable braces thing for probably four years now to straighten them out. Why at this stage of his life? Because he can and that’s all the reason you need to do anything once you hit a certain age.
But the forgotten teeth.
Thankfully we found the funny.
Life’s too short to be sad … or toothless.

Hang in there Jeff – your humor helps (not just you by the way…lol!) I enjoy reading your blog – Philly seems like quite the experience! LOL!
