Everyone has one in their life.

The steel trap is the brain power of a person who remembers everything and willingly corrects anyone and anything that deviates from their recollection.  Here’s an example:

Me:  I started losing my hair about ten years ago.

Steel Trap:  More like twelve years and three months ago.  I remember because you found one in your salad at the Peking Duck All You Can Eat Buffet.

Me:  I’ve never eaten at the Peking Duck Buffet.

Steel Trap:  Yes, we both did.  It was May 3, 2019.  A year before the pandemic started.  I definitely wouldn’t go to a buffet after it hit.

Me:  Well of course you wouldn’t.  Hell, I don’t think I’d ever go at all.  It’s weird sharing food space with strangers.

Steel Trap:  Well that’s a change of mind cuz on Saturday July 13, 2023 you suggested we go to a cookout that the new neighbors invited us to.

Me:  I don’t recall that.

Steel Trap:  Of course you don’t.  You’re were sh*t faced the whole time.  Nice impression you made too.

(So now I’ve had about enough, to be specific not “about enough” but “enough”.)

Me:  Well your whole recollection is completely off.  July 13, 2023 was a Thursday not a Saturday, so you’re wrong.

Steel Trap:  Oh don’t you split hairs with me.

Me:  I can’t.  I don’t have any more hair to split.  I lost it all twelve years and three months ago at the Peking Duck All You Can Eat Buffet.

Steel Trap:  Well finally you’re admitting to it.
